I’m Declaring War On Clutter & Stuff & Dirt

simple-mom-spring-cleaning-party

Next week is the start of Simple Mom’s Spring Cleaning party and I’m going to join in.  I started spring cleaning a number of weeks ago and never really finished what I started.

Clutter is one of those things that I start to tackle and just get paralyzed because I just don’t know what to do with it.

So, the past couple of weeks, every time I see something that has no purpose in my house, it goes either in the goodwill/giveaway bag (I have one in my kitchen, the kid’s closet and one in my bedroom) or the trash.  So, I’m slowly but surely getting rid of junk and baby things we no longer need and those things that we hang on to because we “might need it someday”.

The clutter is also impeding me from being able to clean effectively and efficiently.  It’s hard with a 3 yr-old and 8 month old to be able to find the time to clean, so I have to be able to do things pretty quickly.  If I have to take the time to clean around things or move things before I clean, well, frankly much of the time it just doesn’t happen.  I get things picked up, but then don’t have time left to actually clean.  Ick.

I want to change this.  I have been reading the following on Zen Habits as well.  That is one of my favorite blogs and I find it very motivating.

So, this weekend is going to be the perfect weekend…RAINY!….to declare war on the clutter in my house so I can participate in the Spring Cleaning Party and make lots of headway in the war on clutter and dirt in our house!

I’m hoping to also get some good organizing ideas from other participants who blog about it and post photos.  There are some very clever people out there in the blogosphere!

Have you done your spring cleaning yet this year? If you have any tips for cleaning or organizing, please share them!  I need all the help I can get!

Kid Art Display + Storage

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Have you ever seen these?  They are fantastic!

They are L’il Davinci Art Frames.

They display your kid’s art like real art and also acts as storage since each frame will hold up to 50 pieces of paper!

We have two of the 8×10 frames that are one on top of another on our wall.  Another cool thing is that you can turn it either horizontally or vertically depending on the art you are putting in it.

We are also going to the 11 x 17 frame, which is great for those bigger pieces of artwork.  I think it will make my son’s finger painting art look like pieces of abstract art!

Not only do we love the way this looks, but our son loves seeing his art displayed on the wall.  He gets super excited whenever we change out the picture and put a new piece of art on the wall.

See more great tips over at We Are That Family and Works for Me Wednesday.
