Okay, so I finally signed up for Twitter after much protest.  Why Twitter, I wondered?  I barely have time for blogging!  But, so many people keep talking about how great it is, so I had to see what all the fuss is about.

I will be honest in that I still don’t know what the heck I’m doing on it.  I just decided to sign up on a whim a couple of weeks ago, so I’m trying to figure it out.

It’s been a little addictive so far however, I must admit.  I like reading other people’s “tweets”, though I never know what to tweet myself.

I also am perplexed on the whole ‘following’ thing.  Within hours of signing up I had followers!  How did they even find me?  It’s fascinating.  Do I need to follow them too?  I’ve been looking up some Twitterquette (twitter etiquette) and have found this and this so far, which have been helpful.

Found some other good resources through this Twitter 101 article, so hopefully I will have some time to sit down and figure it out soon.

Meanwhile, I am now also stalking following Hugh Jackman on Twitter.

The kids are in bed.  I’m eating pizza, drinking beer and blog party hopping!

Woot! I’m going to party hop for a little while, then it’s onto the  pre-spring cleaning prep work!  I’m taking the kids to Nana and Grandad’s tomorrow so hubby and I can bust a move on the house.

We are cleaning out closets and the basement and taking stuff to Goodwill.  He’s also got some home repair and yard work to do and I am taking no prisoners in the toy culling.  We are being run out of our house with stuff and it’s driving me nuts.

Welcome blog party goers to Fly Away Family and the 2009 Ultimate Blog Party!

Never one to miss a good party, or free stuff, I thought I’d join in.  I’m very new to blogging and still finding my way, but I’m definitely having fun with it and didn’t want to miss an opportunity to make some new blogging buddies.

Who Me?

I’m Mama Bird.  I’m a SAHM of two boys.  Big D is three and Little C is 7 months.  My husband is amazing, gorgeous….and Australian.  So, we essentially live between two countries.  We work hard to make sure the boys are exposed to ‘Aussie’ stuff, like Vegemite.  Yes, they like vegemite.

This also means we travel to Australia every year. Yes, it’s expensive…but totally worth it!  It’s a big priority for us, so we sacrifice in other areas to make it happen.

What will I write about?

Well, I feel like I have something to share (don’t we all?).  I know my family is not unique, but I’ve never been able to find anyone online in the same situation with similar saving/travel priorities.  So, I decided that maybe there are others out there looking too.  I’m here to write about what we do and hopefully inspire someone else.

I will also write about green living, healthy living, traveling with kids, traveling and living with food allergies, easy/healthy recipes, Australia (with occasional insights from my expat hubby) and anything else that I think is worth sharing.

Some things I plan to write about in the upcoming weeks are

• our big Spring Clean happening this weekend (updated!)
• keeping your momentum when saving
• more low sugar snacks and treats
• saving money with a clothing swap
• meeting goals – our Mint update for March (see Feb’s update)
• our gardening plans – blueberries, raspberries and strawberries
• my  NEW blog design will be up soon
• and all sorts of other interesting topics as life happens!

I am new to blogging, but I’m learning pretty fast.

It’s great though…I almost feel like I’m at a new job or taking a class.  It’s a good feeling to learn something new other than the best way to change a diaper or how to get my son to eat vegetables.  Those things are great too, but I miss learning un-kid related things.

What did I learn today?  How to embed a Flickr photo into my posts (see my first attempt)!

Here is a great video that my hubby found for me, with step by step instructions on how to embed photos into a WordPress blog post from Flickr.

One of the great things about doing it this way is that the photos are being downloaded from Flickr, so you are not using your own bandwidth.
